Do not ask me about heaven, for I possess nothing

    Save for descriptions and names.

It is a thing, and part of a thing, and at times

It is everything, yet to some, it is mere dust.

For the shepherd's heaven, as he desires it,

    Is vast, verdant meadows,

Clad in gold dust for a garment and a sash

Whenever the sun rises and sets.

Forever lush, where the grass never withers,

And the water never runs dry.

And to the mother from whom death has snatched

Her children, leaving her bereft of solace,

It is a place where no harm can touch them,

Nor can oblivion overtake their youth.

And thus is hope born from the womb of despair,

When all hope has died within the heart.

To the pauper, it is a land beyond the

Horizon, holding all that the destitute desire.

He fears neither the wealthy man nor his fierce

Hound, nor is he subject to any man's mockery.

To the oppressed, it is a land like this

Earth, yet one where brotherhood prevails.

Justice unites its people in an order

Like a cloak gathering its threads.

No weakling is enslaved, no strong man

Is a tyrant; rather, they are all equals.

Everything belongs to everyone by lawful right,

Everything within it is as all have willed.

To the libertine, it is a land where sway the

Nymphs, and where wine flows freely.

    لا صُدودٌ لا جَفوَةٌ لا إِباءُ

    All that the soul craves is permitted;

There is no rejection, no coldness, no denial.

The greatest sin is for a man to say,

"This act is a sin, and that is an obscenity."

There is no boundary between righteousness and evil

Like the one the prophets sought to establish.

And where there is no chastity and no depravity,

There can be no modesty nor shame.

Every heart possesses the heaven it desires,

And if you will, every heart is a heaven in itself.

They are images existing within our souls,

Worn by our actions and by material things.

Many a thing is like a singular, unique essence,

Yet multiplied by our motives and desires.

Everything that our perceptions fail to grasp

Exists exactly as our conjectures deem it to be.
