I sat communing with the spirit of Ahmad in the deep night,
While worry draped its veils around me like the dark.
I contemplate the world and search through mankind,
While my eye wanders amidst the stars.
Long I stayed, until weariness overtook my thoughts,
And a withering languor settled on my tired sight.
So I lowered my head to walk the lines of his book
With my glance, and I found the verses saying:
"Treat every ailment except the pain of the envious, for truly,
If it lodges in a heart, it will never shift.
So do not hope for affection from an envious soul,
Even if you show him love and grant him favors."
