O house, surrender to the one whose house you are
Be safe, O abode—what a precious abode!
Who stirs my songs and remembrances
It stirs my raptures and my memories,
When I see you, I say surrender
And whenever I behold it, I say: Be safe,
To bring together my robes and tents
For gathering my hopes and my desires.
Your greeting to us is a lamp lighting the darkness
May a gentle north wind greet you on our behalf,
That flows when the banner is raised
Traveling by night when the night-traveler rests,
It breathes in, drawing its train
Blowing softly, dragging its trailing skirts
Through gardens and rivers
Amidst the gardens and the rivers,
As if its breaths
As though the spreading of its fragrant breath
Emanate from a perfumer's shop
Issues forth from a perfumer's shop.
