أَمرتَنى بركوبِ البحرِ مُرْتَئِيا

فغُرَّ غيريَ واخْصُصْه بذا الرَّاءِ

I was commanded to ride the sea hoping

Another boasted, single him out with this boast

ما أنت نوح فتُنْجِينى سَفينتُه

ولا المسيحُ أنا أمشِى على الماء

You are not Noah to save me with his ship

Nor am I Christ to walk upon the water
