واللهِ لو صحَّ عندي أن هجركمُ

يَفْنَى لكنتُ أُسَلِّى بالنفس بالأَملِ

And if I were sure that leaving you would end

I'd console myself with hope and dreams

لكنْ صددتمُ بلا ذنبٍ وهل سببٌ

للحَيْن أوجب هجراني سوى المَلل

But you turned from me though I'd done no wrong

What reason for this separation but boredom?

خُنتم فلم يبقَ لي في وصلكم طمعٌ

يُرْجَى وهذا فؤادي في ابتداء العمل

You betrayed me and I have no more hope

Of reunion, my heart still raw and tender
