1. ويوم تَبَدَّى من سَحائِبه الوَدْقُ

    كما اسْتَعْبَر المعشوقُ أَقْلَقَه العِشْقُ

    When his clouds began to drizzle

    As if the beloved was made restless by love

  2. يُقَهْقه فيه الرعدُ من أَدْمُع الحَيا

    ويبسم من أنفاس أَرياحِه البرق

    Thunder rumbles in them from the tears of life

    And lightning smiles from the breaths of its winds

  3. حكي جودَ شاهِنْشاه أفعالُ نَوْئه

    وكلا ولكنْ نَوْءُه منه مُشْتَقّ

    Tell of the generosity of the great Shah

    Though each telling derives from his generosity

  4. هو الملك المخصوص بالفضل دائماً

    فكلُّ تَغالٍ في مَدائحه صدق

    He is the king distinguished by perpetual merit

    So each extravagance in praising him is truth

  5. إذا كَرَّر الحادون في البيدِ مِدْحةً

    تغنتْ به ما بين أوراقِها الوُرْق

    When poets repeat praise in verse

    The leaves between the pages sing of him
