جِئتُ بِلا حُرمَةٍ وَلا سَبَبِ
إِلَيكَ إِلّا بِحُرمَةِ الأَدَبِ
I came with neither a claim upon you nor any tie—
nothing to bring me to you but the claim of letters.
فَاِقضِ ذِمامي فَإِنَّني رَجُلٌ
غَيرُ مُلِحٍّ عَلَيكَ في الطَلَبِ
So honor my claim, for I am a man
who will not press you in asking.
