للصيد فضل في ثمان فوائدٍ

من بعدها عشر تشيد أساسه

Hunting has eight benefits of merit

After them, ten that form its foundation

سلوان همٍ ثم ترك بطالةٍ

وفصحاة التعبير ثم رياسه

Relief from anxious care, abandoning idleness

Eloquence of expression, then leadership

ولذاذة ونزاهة ونشاطة

ويقاظة ونباهة وحماسه

And pleasures, integrity, and liveliness

Wakefulness, brilliance, and enthusiasm

ورياضة الأجسام ثم طلاقة

الأبصار ثم جلادة وفراسه

And exercising the body, plus agility

Of vision, toughness, and perspicacity

وصيانة ثم اكتساب معيشةٍ

والعلم بالطرقات ثم سياسه

Preserving and acquiring a livelihood

Knowing the roads, then governance
