The Most High, in His grace, built the abode of loftiness,
and with His glory and His victory adorned it.
No wonder if it is the Garden of Refuge, which
the Most High, through ʿAlī, made fortunate and blessed.
At its gate, the tokens of his generosity smiled,
munificently; through splendor it attained its stairway.
Come, enter the sacred abode, which
became the home of the best of creation, and of none besides.
May exalted glory never cease to serve it, nor
may joy cease to walk through its chambers.
From the rising-place of its fortune, the date appeared in
two verses of poetry, sweet in their night-course.
In every hemistich of the two lies its date,
and it boasts in letters dotted and undotted.
The second of them came in glory, proclaiming:
“What an honor for it that the Most High built it.”
An abode of bliss—from its glory it rose, head held high;
then, in hope, it ascended—fortunate is whoever made it flourish.
Mark its era: one thousand, two hundred, and seven—
and twenty; its building is dated by “Faraj al-Nadā”—“the opening of bounty.”
