  1. ألا أيها الخلّ المودع مغرماً

    لك اللَه فيما أنت فيهِ تسيرُ

    O you, the departed friend with whom I'm infatuated,

    May God protect you as you travel on.

  2. لعمري لقد كادت تذوب حشا

    شتي من البين والهجران فيما تشيرُ

    My life - my yearning heart almost melted away

    From our separation and distance during your journey.

  3. فحسبي غرامي والسهاد منادمي

    وأعشار نيران الغرام تفورُ

    Contentment is my passion, and chatting is my joy,

    With the rising flames of love overflowing.

  4. لقد راعني هذا الوداع وإنما

    لأمرٍ قضاهُ اللَه إني صبورُ

    This farewell troubled me, though it is

    A decree of God - I remain patient.

  5. فإني وإن غبتم وشط مزاركم

    فمنزلكم قلبي وفيه تمورُ

    Though you're far, your dwellings still in my heart,

    Flowing there while my soul takes flight.

  6. ولي كبدٌ حرّى وقلبٌ مولعٌ

    فذي خلفكم تجري وذاك يطيرُ

    My core burned, my heart utterly besotted,

    As what's behind departs and this soars in delight.

  7. فسيروا بحفظٍ فاللقاءُ مقرّبٌ

    بعون إلهي والبعاد قصيرُ

    Travel safely - our reunion draws near,

    With God's help, and this distance will be brief.

  8. وإني لأرجوا أن أراك ميمهاً

    ومن نيل مطلوبٍ عليك سرورُ

    I hope to see you cheerful again soon,

    As attaining what's sought will bring you cheer.
