جنات عدنٍ مع الولدان مبتهجاً

أضحت لهُ عوضاً عن دار اسواء

Rejoicing with the boys in Paradise

Compensation for an abode of woe

إن غاب الشمس في عينٍ مؤرخةٍ

أوّه لاحمد نجمٌ غاب بالماء

If the sun is absent in a historian's eye

Alas! Ahmad is a star drowned in water
