    With rain watering them beyond our wishes

    وضمنا الربع إذ ضمت حواشيه

    How many dates we had in those meadows

    When the horizon embraced its edges

  10. يا طالما ذاب قلبي في هواه وكم

    بد لويلا برشف الثغر ينشيه

    How my heart melted in his love many times

    And how agony showed through my lips

  11. عجبت من شخص قلبي مات فيه اسى

    وكيف رشف زلال الريق يحييه

    I wonder how my heart died of his sorrow

    And how the sheen of saliva brings it back to life

  12. فيا نسيما سرى من مهجتي سحراً

    قف بالجديد واعطف عن يمانيه

    So breeze that blew from my inside in the morning

    معطار نشر فعرج نحو هاديه

  14. وسر بطلف إلى المحبوب متبعا

    شذاء عرف زكي ثمّ من فيه

    And sneak to the beloved, following

    The graceful scent, then from it

  15. فانزل وسلم على ذاك الغزال وقل

    يقريك حبك شوقا كاد يفنيه

    Descend and greet that gazelle and say

    Your love misses you, almost finishing him

  16. واخفض جناحا لديه عند رؤيته

    واشرح غرامي الذي فيه أعانيه

    Lower your wing beside him when you see him

    And explain my passion that agonizes me

  17. وقد تركت كئيبا فيكم شبحا

    من الصبابة قد بانت خوافيه

    I left gloomy, a specter among you

    Of youthfulness, its hidden parts apparent

  18. يا صاح ان جزت ذاك الحي معتمدا

    نحو الأنيس الذي طابت لعانيه

    Oh companion, if you pass that neighborhood

    Relying on the beloved, so pleasant his company

  19. أو جئت يا صاحبي نحو الديار فجز

    حمي العبيد وعطفا عن شماليه

    Or you come, my friend, to the houses so reward

    The ardour of the slaves and turn away from its left

  20. واقرا تحية حب كالخيال فلم

    يدع له الوجد معنى من معانيه

    And convey a greeting of love like an apparition

    Passion left it no meaning or purpose

  21. فيا لويلاتنا اللاتي سلفن لنا

    هل أنت بالطيف ميت الحب تأتيه

    Oh our nights that passed, woe to us
