Return to a home of ruin

Free of its fragrant garden

مشرق الطلعة زاهٍ

نافح الزهر النديّ

Bright in rising, blooming

The dewy blossoms exhaling

فاض شهداً وصفاءً

من زلال جوهري

Overflowing with honeyed bliss

From the essence of its being

ظاهرٌ مثل الثريّا

من على ظهر العلي

Appearing like a jewel

Over its lofty summit

قد حكى الأبلق عزّاً

ببناءً كسرويّ

It tells of glory

With a structure like Solomon’s

جنة فاحت رباها

بالبسام العنبري

A paradise nurtured

With sweetest perfume

وجرت فيها السواقي

بالشراب الكوثري

Streams run through it

With heavenly drink

شاده نعم بشيرٌ

ذا بنانٍ حاتمي

Built in bounty by one

Of princely line, Hatem

الشهابيُّ المفدى

دام بالعيش الهني

Redeemed, illumined guide

May he live in joy
