صدحت على غصن السرور قماري
وروت سعودك عن ضيا الأقمارِ
My nightingale sang joyfully on the branch of bliss,
And your benevolence watered the brilliance of the moons.
وجلا الزمان مطالعاً قد زانها
من نور مجدك طالع الأنوارِ
Time shone radiantly, adorned
With the light of your glory, the rising of lights.
وأتى الهنا يهدي القلوب مسرةً
تروي المسامع أطيب الأخبار
Serenity came to gladden hearts,
Quenching hearing with the sweetest news.
وعلا الحمى برفيع عزّك بهجةً
عمّت بعدلك ربع كل ديارِ
Zeal was exalted by your mighty dignity,
Spreading with your justice over every region.
وسرت نسيمات الهنا ببشائرٍ
أهدت ثناك بعاطر الأزهارِ
The breezes wafted tidings of joy,
Bringing you fragrant flowers as gifts.
فزهت بنور شهابك العليا وقد
أبدت لديك جواهر الأسرارِ
You shone with the light of your sublime stars,
Revealing to you the jewels of mysteries.
واعتزَّ لبنان البهيج وقد غدا
بك مخصباً متدفق الأنهارِ
Lush Lebanon took pride, becoming
Fertile with your generous, flowing rivers.
طابت مرابعهُ فأصبح مطلعاً
لكواكب العلياءِ والأسحارِ
Its meadows were sweetened, becoming a place
For the rising of stars and dawns.
قلَّدتهُ نعماً وقد طوَّقتهُ
كرماً بعقد محاسن الآثارِ
You adorned it with favors, encircling it
With generosity's necklace of fine deeds.
ووهبتهُ شرفاً بحسن إمارةٍ
فكسوتهُ ثوب الثنا المعطارِ
You granted it nobility with excellent rule,
Robing it in fragrant raiment.
وجعلتهُ بالأمن ربعاً ترتعي
فيه السخّالُ مع الهزبر الضاري
You made it a land where the bold and the timid
Could graze together in safety.
وأفضت فيه جداول الخيرات من
صافي سحائب جودك الفوّارِ
You poured in it streams of blessings
From the pure clouds of your abundant generosity.
للَه درك من كريمٍ أصبحت
كفاه يحسدها السحاب الساري
Blessed are you, O noble one, whose palm
Is envied by the drifting clouds.
زادت بهِ الأيام نوراً وانجلت
دهم الليالي في ضياء نهار
The days gained light through you, and the
Dark nights shone in your day's radiance.
أحيى العفاة برفد راحتهِ التي
تفني العدى بمهندٍ بتّار
You revived the destitute with your comfort
That destroys enemies with a sharp sword.
شهمٌ إذا اقتحم العجاج محارباً
يجلي دجى الأخطار بالخطّار
Valiant, charging into battle on a fiery steed,
Dispelling the gloom of dangers with glory.
ليثٌ تخاف الأسد في آجامها
سطواته والأمن أصبح جاري
A lion whom even lions in their dens
Fear, while safety spreads.
سجدت نفوس بني العداة لصارمٍ
قد ضمّه بالخمسة الأبحار
The souls of enemies bow down to a sword
That gathered the five seas.
مولى خلائقه السنية خلقها
عز النزيل وحفظ عهد الجار
Master of his benign creatures, created
To honor the guest and keep vows.
نعم البشير سرت محامد عدله
بين الملا كالكوكب السيّار
What a blessed herald! The praises of his justice
Spread like the wandering star.
يا سيد الأمراء والكبراء بل
يا مفرداً بمهابةٍ ووقارِ
O master of princes and nobles, indeed
Unequaled in awe and dignity.
هنئت في ثوب السعادة والعلى
أسمى هناءٍ دائم التكرارِ
You were clothed in the garb of bliss and heights,
The utmost, enduring delight.
ولك الهناءُ بخلعةٍ ميمونةٍ
تجلى بحسن سعادةٍ ووقارِ
Yours are congratulations in an auspicious robe
Radiant in perfect bliss and gravity.
غرّاءُ قد وردت بأبهج رونقٍ
قرّت بمهد العزّ أيّ قرارِ
A beauty came to you in most splendid dress,
Proffered to your lofty place with ease.
حسناءُ جاءت والسعود تزفها
لمقامك السامي بكل يسارِ
She pledged her loyal troth to you,
Shunning the intimacy of strangers.
عقدت لدى علياك صادق عهدها
وتمنعت عن الفة الأغيار
So revel in her sweet tribute and wishes,
As her joy in you grows ever more.
فاغنم بها طيب التهاني والمنى
وهناؤُها بك زايد المقدارِ
Be safe, and always possess in glory
The brides of thoughts she brings to you.
واسلم ودُم بالعز ما طلعت ضيا
تهدي إليك عرائس الأفكارِ
Your servants came in joy to record
A delight lasting through all time.
وأتى عبيدك بالسرور مؤرخاً
نل بهجةً دامت مدى الأدهار
