سألت بديع النظم لما تمثلت

لدى كل حبر من معانيه خرّدُ

I asked the master of verse when he embodied

The essence of every ink through his meanings so minute

اتحمد في هذا الزمان مؤدباً

فقال نعم فاليزبكاوي أحمدُ

"Are you content in this time, cultured one?"
