برزت تفاخر بالجبين الأقمر
هيفاء تغزونا بقدّ أسمر
She appeared boasting with a bright forehead
Haya invading us with a tanned stature
تختال تيها والحياء يصونها
فتصيدنا رغماً بطرفٍ أحور
Strutting coyly while shyness protects her
Thus she hunts us forcibly with a squinting glance
فطفقت نشوان الغرام وقد روى
دمعي أحاديث الهوى عن مضمري
So the pangs of passion ignited
And my tears narrated the tales of my secret love
عذل العذول بها ولست بسامع
كلّا وحق الحب لست بمفتري
I blamed the one I blame out of love not falsely
If you deny my aching heart then look
ان انكرت تعذيب قلبي فانظروا
سودا الفؤاد بخدها ان تسفر
At the blackness of my heart from her cheek should it unveil
I swore and was reminded of carnelian and its pact
نشدت فذكرني العقيق وعهده
وليال وصل بالعقيق الأنور
And nights of connection with the shining carnelian
If my eye glimpses her cheek it makes it blush
ان شامها طرفي تورد خدها
ولذاك لوني ظاهر كالنوفر
And so my complexion appears obviously rosy
With her mouth beloved ensuring pearls
وبثغرها حبب تضمن لؤلوءا
يروي عقودا عن صحاح الجوهري
Quenching necklaces of the correct jewels
Is it acceptable that I complain of passion when it starts
أيجوز ان أشكو اللغوب وقد غدا
يحكي رضاب الثغر طعم الكوثر
To narrate the beats of the mouth's taste of immortality
She robbed the lovers blind just as
سلبت من العشاق الباباً كما
سلب العقول بلفظه والمنظر
She robbed minds with her words and sight
My Master with his noble character ascended
مولى بصور قد سما سور العلى
أكرم به شهما عليّا حيدري
Honouring glorious Haydari with it
With it his horizons shone and sparkled
ضاءت به افلاكها وتلألأت
كصفاته إذ لاح كالنجم السري
Like his traits when he appeared like a hidden star
He came to imitate Al-Asma'i in narration
أضحى يحاكي الأصمعي رواية
وفؤاده حاكى فؤاد غضنفر
While his heart imitated the heart of Ghadhnafar
How many crises has he solved with his wisdom
كم أزمة قد حلها بذكائه
وكريهة قد حلها بالأبتر
And how many evils has he solved with the castrated sword
Courageous with every praise and virtue
شهم بكل محامد وفضائل
خصم لكل محارب ليث جري
An opponent to every warrior lion cub
The rain of generosity amazing in his meadow halt
غيث السماحة عج بروضته وقف
تجني الندا من خير غصن مثمر
Bearing fruit the soft bend of a fertile branch
With his integrity stand amazing in his meadow
بقوام السماحة عج بروضته وقف
اضحى يجاذب كل قلب قسور
He came to pull every solid heart
His efforts reached the most high and the virtuous chose
بلغت مساعيه عليّا واصطفت
أهل النهى بذكائه المتنور
The people of prohibition with his enlightened mind
So towards your ascendance ascend praise
فإلى علاك عليّ مجد أقبلت
تهدي مديحا بالثناء الأعطر
Offering the most fragrant praise in eulogy
Take it by the edge of the curtain kindly as it
خذها بذيل الستر لطفا أنها
برزت تفاخر بالجبين الأقمر
Appeared boasting with the bright forehead
