1. هَبَّت فَعَلِمتُ أَنَّها مِن نَجدِ

    ريحٌ لِنَسيمِها أَريجُ النِدِّ

    The wind blew and I knew it was from Najd

    A breeze whose gentle waft carries the scent of agarwood

  2. لَكِن جَزَعاً قُلتُ لِواشٍ عِندي

    هَذي النَسَمات لِلكَثيبِ الفَردِ

    But in sorrow I said to a companion at hand

    These breezes are for the lonely, barren dune
