واحَرَبا مِن زَمانِ سوءٍ

عَلَيَ قَد أَظهَرَ التَجَنّي

And war from an evil era

Upon it has revealed estrangement

فَما تَحَبَّبتُ مِنهُ حُبّاً

إِلّا وَأَقصى الحَبيبُ مِنّي

So I have not loved from it with love

Except the beloved has become most distant from me
