يا حادي قِفْ بي سَاعةً في الربعِ

كي أَسْمَعَ أَوْ أَرَى ظِباءَ الجَزْعِ

O driver, stop by me for an hour in the wilderness

So I can hear or see the hyenas crying

إنْ لم أَرَهُمْ أو أَسْمَعَ ذكرهُمُ

لا حاجةَ لي بِنَظَرِي والسّمْعِ

If I cannot see them or hear any mention of them

I have no need for my sight or hearing
