1. What name, if you search through my poetry, will you find

whose repointed form in writing is its reversal?

  2. And if you repoint its second letter, it becomes one

kind of bird—other than its beloved.

  3. If the dot of a letter in it vanishes together with

an alif, it will sell for a mere kharrūbah.

  4. Half of it is two-thirds of an instrument

assigned, among percussion instruments, to its kind.

  5. Its other half is half the name of one

akin to it, who follows its manner.

  6. Its reversal is the heart of that whose meaning,

when it follows a lām, is “every marvel.”

  7. Its two outer letters form a protective invocation once

both are repointed—something sought in sacred remembrance.

  8. And if you take the jīm in it for its dāl,

and count the dāl in it as a jīm,

  9. after two letters in it have been repointed,

and write the zāy in it as a wāw,

  10. it becomes the name of one whom God ennobled through

revelation, as He ennobled His Beloved.
