ما أصنَعُ وَقَدْ أَبْطَأَ عليّ الخَبرُ

وَيْلاَهُ إلى مَتَى وكَمْ أَنْتَظِرُ

What shall I do, for the news has been delayed for me

Alas, for how long must I wait

كم أَحِمِلُ كم أكْتُمُ كم أصطَبِرُ

يُقْضَى أجلي ولَيْسَ يُقْضَى وَطَرُ

How much can I bear, how much can I conceal, how much can I be patient

My time will come to an end, yet my desire will not
