اللَهُ صَوَّرَها وَصَيَّرَها

لاقَتكَ أَو لَم تَلقَها تَرَها

God has formed her and designed her

Whether you meet her or not, you see her

نُصباً لِعَينِكَ لا تَرى حَسَناً

إِلا ذَكَرتَ بِهِ لَها شَبَها

A spectacle for your eyes; you see no beauty

That you do not liken her to

إِنّي لَأُشفِقُ أَن أُقَدِّمَها

قَبلي وَأَكرَهُ أَن أُؤَخِّرَها

Indeed I fear to put her before me

And I dislike to put her behind me
