إِنَّ الطَبيبَ بِطِبِّهِ وَدَوائِهِ
لا يَستَطيعُ دِفاعَ مَقدورٍ أَتى
Indeed, the physician, for all his skill and medicine,
cannot ward off a fate whose hour has come.
ما لِلطَبيبِ يَموتُ بِالداءِ الَّذي
قَد كانَ يُبري مِثلَهُ فيما مَضى
Why does the physician die of the disease that
he once used to cure the like of, in days gone by?
إِلّا لِأَنَّ الخَلقَ يَحكُمُ فيهُمُ
مَن لا يُرَدُّ وَلا يُجاوَزُ ما قَضى
Only because over mankind there rules
One who cannot be turned back, nor can what He decrees be overstepped.
