1. قُل لِلأَميرِ إِذا نَزَلتَ بِهِ

    إِنَّ المَباخِلَ ذَمُّها عَجِلُ

    Tell the prince when you call on him

    That the miser is swiftly blamed

  2. بِئسَ المُروءَةُ مِن ذَوي حَسَبٍ

    جاعَت قَرابَتُهُم وَقَد ثَمِلوا

    How miserable is the nobility of those of pedigree

    Their kin go hungry though they are replete

  3. شِبَعُ الأَميرِ وَجوعُ صاحِبِهِ

    عارُ الحَياةِ فَأَطعِموا وَكُلوا

    A prince's satiation yet his companion hungers

    The shame of life, so feed and eat
