طَرَقَتني صَباً فَحَرَّكَتِ البا
بَ هُدُوّاً فَاِرتَعتُ مِنهُ اِرتِيابا
A zephyr visited me by night and stirred the—
—door softly; startled by it, I grew wary.
فَكَأَنّي سَمِعتُ حِسَّ حَبيبٍ
نَقَرَ البابَ نَقرَةً ثُمَّ غابا
It was as though I heard the sound of a beloved
who tapped once upon the door, then vanished.
