أَسِبوَيهِ يا اِبنَ الفارِسِيَّةِ ما الَّذي
تَحَدَّثتَ عَن شَتمي وَما كُنتَ تَنبُذُ
O Sibawayh, son of the Persian woman, what was it
you said about reviling me, and what were you hurling?
أَظَلتَ تُغَنّي سادِراً في مَساءَتي
وَأُمُّكَ بِالمَصرَينِ تُعطي وَتَأخُذُ
Did you keep singing, heedlessly doing me harm,
while your mother in the two cities gives and takes?
