فَضَحَت جودَها بِطولِ مِطالٍ
حالَفَتهُ وَآفَةُ الجودِ مَطلُ
She has shamed her generosity by making me wait so long;
she has allied herself with its bane—for delay is generosity’s scourge.
هِيَ في قَلبِهِ وَبيَنَ يَدَيهِ
وَمَعَ النَجمِ بَذلُها كَيفَ يَسلو
She is in his heart and right before him,
yet her giving is up among the stars—how can he find solace?
