ʿInān, O my desire and O my solace,
Do you not see me roaming the streets?
I have been denied your faithfulness, my tormentress;
So hasten with the record in written deeds.
Indeed, by the Lord of heaven, I am striving
To untie the trouser drawstrings you have knotted.
Yes—and if I wished, I would say: a glans
Soothes the raging bouts of itching.
What will you say to the Lord on high
When you are alone with Him?
