1. يَفخَرُ الباهِلِيُّ أَن جَعَلَ اللَ

    هُ لَهُ وَحدَهُ حِراً مِن وَراءِ

    The ignorant man boasts that God has made

    Him alone free behind the veil.

  2. وَلَقَد قُلتُ يَومَ زافَ لِمَسعو

    دٍ وَأَلقى عَنهُ قِناعَ الحَياءِ

    And I said on the day when he leaned toward Mas'ud

    And cast off from him the cloak of modesty:

  3. خَبَّرَتني القَنفاءُ عَنكِ بِشَيءٍ

    فَاِتَّقِ اللَهَ في اِستِكَ البَخراءِ

    "The tattler told me something about you,

    So fear God in covering your shame.

  4. لا تَدَع زِنيَةً وَدَع زُبَّ يَحيى

    وَاِسأَلِ أُختَيكَ عَن لَذيذِ الزِناءِ

    Do not forsake the adulteress and forsake Zubayr ibn al-Awwam,

    And ask your two sisters about the sweetness of adultery."
