وَقَفتُ وَقَد فَقَدتُ الصَبرَ حَتّى
تَبَيَّنَ مَوقِفي أَنّي الفَقيدُ
I stood, having lost all patience, until
My stance made clear that I was the bereaved one,
وَشُكِّكَ فِيَّ عُذّالي فَقالوا
لِرَسمِ الدارِ أَيُّكُما العَميدُ
And those who blamed me doubted and asked:
“Who owns this house, which of you leads?”
