دَعَتني حينَ شِبتُ إِلى المَعاصي
مَحاسِنُ زائِرٍ كَالريمِ غَضِّ
She lured me into sins when I grew old,
With transient charms, like meadows fresh with rain.
كَأنَّ كَلامَهُ يَومَ اِلتَقَينا
رُقىً يَأخُذنَ في طولٍ وَعَرضِ
When first we met, her talk was like a spell
That spread through length and breadth, and held me fast.
