1. أَيري لَهُ فَضلٌ عَلى آيارِهِم

    وَإِذا أَشَظَّ سَجَدنَ غَيرَ أَوابِ

    Does he have any virtue over his peers?

    And if he frowns, others prostrate unwillingly,

  2. وَكَأَنَّ هامَةَ رَأسِهِ بِطّيخَةٌ

    حُمِلَت إِلى مَلِكٍ بِدَجلَةَ جابِ

    As if the blackness of his head was a melon

    Taken to a king across the Tigris as gift.
