  1. أَراكَ اليَومَ لي وَغَداً لِغَيري

    وَبَعدَ غَدٍ لِأَقرَبِنا إِلَيكا

    I see you with me today, and tomorrow with another,

    And the day after tomorrow with the one closest to you.

  2. إِذا أَحبَبتَ ذا فارَقتَ هَذا

    كَأَنَّ فِراقَهُ حَتمٌ عَلَيكا

    If you love one, you leave another,

    As if parting with him is inevitable for you.

  3. فَأَقدَمُهُم أَخَسُّهُمُ جَميعاً

    وَأَحدَثُهُم أَحَبُّهُمُ إِلَيكا

    So the one you've known the longest you value the least,

    And the newest is the most beloved to you.

  4. وَكُلُّهُمُ وَإِن طَرمَذتَ فيهِمُ

    سَتَترُكُهُ وَشيكاً في يَدَيكا

    And though you flutter amongst them,

    You will soon leave each one in your hands.
