1. وَصافِيَةٍ تَعشي العُيونُ رَقيقَةً

    رَهينَةَ عامٍ في الدِنانِ وَعامِ

    With clear wine the eyes grow tender in the evening

    Captive to a year in pots and a year in cups

  2. أَدَرنا بِها الكَأسَ الرَوِيَّةَ بَينَنا

    مِنَ اللَيلِ حَتّى اِنجابَ كُلُّ ظَلامِ

    We passed the brimming cup between us through the night

    Until all darkness took flight and fled away

  3. فَما ذَرَّ قَرنُ الشَمسِ حَتّى كَأَننا

    مِنَ العِيِّ نَحكي أَحمدَ بنَ هِشامِ
