1. هامَ قَلبي بِاللَواتي

    هُنَّ دائي وَشَقاتي

    My heart is possessed by the beauties

    Who are my malady and misery

  2. ذَهَبَت نَفسي إِلَيهِن

    ن بِقَلبي حَسَراتِ

    My soul went out to them

    With longing remaining in my heart

  3. وَلَقَد قُلتُ لِراجٍ

    راحَتي بِالرُقَياتِ

    And indeed I said to a messenger

    "My comfort is in pretty girls"

  4. إِنَّما تَيَّمَ قَلبي

    بَقَرٌ في الحَجَلاتِ

    Indeed my heart became enamored

    With a cow amid other cows

  5. مِثلُ عَبّادَةَ فيهِن

    ن فَتاةُ الفَتَياتِ

    Like the love for Abadah among them

    The jewel of the jewels

  6. بِهَواها طالَ لَيلي

    وَبِها طالَت شَكاتي

    Her love made my night long

    And with her my worries lengthened

  7. أَكثَرَت في القُربِ خُلفي

    وَعَلى النَأيِ عِداتي

    She increased my misdeeds in closeness

  8. ما الَّذي مَنَّتكَ إِلّا

    نَظرَةٌ في الخَطَراتِ

    And my chastity from afar

    What made you favor me except

  9. أَمسَكَت نَفسي عَلَيها

    بَعدَ ما مَلَّت لَهاتي

    A glance amid glances

    I held back my soul from her

  10. وَلَقَد أَغرى بِعَبّا

    دَةَ قَولُ القائِلاتِ

    After it was inclined to her

    And the words of the speaker enticed Abadah

  11. اِسلُ عَن عَبدَةَ قَد أَن

    زَفتَ فيها العَبَراتِ

    Announcing the falling of teardrops on her

    Ask about Abadah, for I have

  12. وَلَقَد أَيقَنَ أَنّي

    لا أَطيعُ العاذِلاتِ

    Poured into her my tears

    And indeed I am certain that I

  13. تَيَّمَتني إِذ تَهادَت

    في ثَلاثٍ تائِباتِ

    Will not obey the blamers

    She made me fall for her while repenting

  14. بِتَهادي مُرجَحِنٍّ

    مِثلَ مُهتَزِّ القَناةِ

    Among three penitents

    With swaying like a shaking spear

  15. وَاِعتِدالٍ في قَوامٍ

    فَوقَ نَعتِ الناعِتاتِ

    And straight posture atop all statures

    With cheeks like the rising sun

  16. وَبِخَدِّ خَدِّ شَمسٍ

    طالَعَت مِن مُزُناتِ

    Beaming from veils

    And eyes of a cow among

  17. وَبِعَينَي بَقَرٍ في

    بَقَرٍ أَو جُؤذَراتِ

    Cows or small cows

    And a neck as a meadow

  18. وَبِجيدٍ جيدِ ريمٍ

    يَرتَعي حُرَّ النَباتِ

    Grazing the finest plants

    And a taste, diverse and cool

  19. وَبِذي طَعمٍ شَتيتٍ

    بارِدٍ عَذبِ اللِثاتِ

    With sweet saliva

    Its taste is from melting honey

  20. طَعمُهُ مِن ذَوبِ شُهدٍ

    شيبَ بِالماءِ الفُراتِ

    Aged with Euphrates water

    The neighbors describe from it

  21. يَصِفُ الجاراتُ مِنهُ

    نَفحَةَ المِسكِ الفُتاتِ

    The scent of musk particles

    My advice to her is gently

  22. عِظَتي فيها رُوَيداً

    قَد مَلِلتُ الواعِظاتِ

    For I am tired of advisers

    I will never obey people regarding her

  23. لا أُطيعُ الناسَ فيها

    أَبَداً حَتّى المَماتِ

    Until death comes upon me

    She is my sickness and my cure

  24. تِلكَ أَسقامي وَبُرئي

    مِن سَقامي لَو تُواتي

    If she comes close to me

    The wish of my soul, my care

  25. وَمُنى نَفسي وَهَمّي

    في مَقيلي وَبَياتي

    In my rest and nights

    My bliss when I sleep

  26. وَنَعيمي حينَ أَغفي

    وَشِفاءُ اليَقَظاتِ

    And cure for my vigils

    The one I spend my evenings and mornings with

  27. وَالَّتي أُمسي وَأَغدو

    في عَشِيٍّ وَغَداةِ

    In night and morning

    My mind goes out to her

  28. ذاهِبَ اللُبِّ إِلَيها

    مُعلِناً بِالزَفَراتِ

    Announcing in sighs

    So when I stand to pray

  29. فَإِذا قُمتُ أُصَلّي

    عَرَضَت لي في صَلاتي

    She comes to my mind in my prayer

    I wish I had given her

  30. لَيتَني أَعطَيتُ مِنهُ

    لَيلَةً في حَسَناتي

    A night of my good deeds

    It's as if I'm crying for her love

  31. وَكَأَنّي مِن هَواها

    بِبُكاءٍ وَصُماتِ

    With weeping and fasting

    So heal me, O Responder to prayers

  32. فَاِشفِني بِالصَبرِ مِنها

    يا مُجيبَ الدَعَواتِ

    With patience from her

    Or make her taste from me one day

  33. أَو أَذِقها يَومَ عَنّي

    كُربَةً مِن كُرُباتي

    The anguish of my anguish

    Her love brought me higher

  34. بَلَغَت بي مِن هَواها

    فَوقَ ما سَرَّ عُداتي

    Than what my chastity pleased

    Friend, I entrust you with my will

  35. صاحِ أَوصيكَ إِلَيها

    ثِقَةً فَاِحفَظ وَصاتي

    So keep my behests

    Tell Abadah to return to me

  36. قُل لِعَبّادَةَ رُدّي

    بَعضَ حُزني وَأَذاتي

    Some of my sorrow and pain

    Abadah, you have become my life

  37. عَبدَ أَصبَحتِ حَياتي

    فَصِليني يا حَياتي

    So join me, O my life

  38. أَغلِقي عَنّي بِوَصلٍ

    بابَ سُقمي وَأَذاتي

    Close for me with a visit

    The door of my sickness and pain

  39. وَإِذا ما مُتُّ فَاِبكي

    لَطَفاً في الباكِياتِ

    And when I die, then weep for me

    Kindly among the weeping women

  40. لا تَكوني مِثلَ أُخرى

    تَتَجَنّى جَفَواتي

    Be not like another

    Who shuns my love

  41. فَلَقَد أَصفَيتُكِ الشعِ

    رَ بِرَغمِ الحاسِداتِ

    For I have purified for you poetry

    Despite the envious women
