ما لُمتُ حَمّاداً عَلى فِسقِهِ
يَلومُهُ الجاهِلُ وَالمائِقُ
I do not blame Hammad for his debauchery,
The ignorant and the abstinent blame him,
رَماهُمُ مِن أَيرِهِ وَاِستِهِ
مَلَّكَهُ إِيّاهُما الخالِقُ
He threw them away from his bed and pillow,
Their Maker made him own them both,
ما باتَ إِلا فَوقَهُ فاسِقٌ
يَنيكُهُ أَو تَحتَهُ فاسِقُ
None but the debauched lie above him,
Or the debauched lie beneath.
