O ʿAbd, visit me; it will be a favor
O slave, visit me, it would be a favor
From God to me, on the day I meet you.
From God when I meet you
By God, then by God—so be certain:
By God, then by God, be assured
I do place my hope in you and fear you.
That I hope for you and fear you
O ʿAbd, I am dying, gravely ill,
O slave, I am wretched and disgraced
If I do not taste the coolness of your front teeth.
If I don't taste the coolness of your embrace
So do not turn away a gravely ill lover
So don't turn away a wretched lover
Who is content with this much of that.
Who is content with this much of you
