وَمِثلِكَ قَد سَيَّرتُهُ بِقَصيدَةٍ
فَسارَ وَلَم يَبرَح عِراصَ المَنازِلِ
And one like you I have sent traveling with a poem;
And one like you I sent forth with a poem
So he traveled, yet never left the courtyards of the dwellings.
So he went and did not cease from stage to stage.
رَمَيتُ بِهِ شَرقاً وَغَرباً فَأَصبَحَت
بِهِ الأَرضُ مَلأى مِن مُقيمٍ وَراحِلِ
I hurled him eastward and westward, so that
I aimed him east and west, and he became
The earth became full of him, among dwellers and travelers.
The lands filled full of settled folk and rovers.
