She seemed, the day she went forth in all her beauty,
As if on the day she went out in her beauty,
her lower body quivering and her upper body swaying,
Her lower half swayed and her upper half trembled.
a dark-eyed maiden who came from Paradise, drawing near;
A houri came from Paradise advancing,
the sun was her face, and musk her fragrance.
The sun was her rising and musk her perfuming.
One of those clad in a graceful form; and for her was torn
Of those who wore silk and to whom beauty cleaved,
by Beauty, from his own garment, a robe in which he then clothed her.
Making for her from the garment of beauty a robe it wrapped.
She departed, showing him no kindness in his burning longing
She went and did not give to his suffering
for her; yet had she asked him for his soul, he would have given it to her.
Anything from her, and if his soul had asked her she would have given it.
