إذا رأيتَ هِلالاً

يا أيُّها المُتَكَلِّمْ

If I could see the crescent moon

O you who speak

وراحَ يجْحَدُ هذا

حُوَيْسِدٌ مُتَألِّمْ

And he went on denying this

A grieving skeptic

فاقْنَعْ بعيْنِكَ واصبِرْ

وللمُحِبِّ فعَلِّمْ

Be content with your eye and be patient

And teach the lover

ودُلَّهُ أينَ حَيَّى

من الظَّلامِ المُعتِّمْ

And show him where Hayya is

From the dark gloom

واجمَعْ عليهِ عُيوناً

متى رأَتْهُ تُتَرْجِمْ

And gather eyes on him

When they saw him translate

وقُلْ لصاحِبِ عقلٍ

مُشَكِّكٍ ليسَ يجْزِمْ

And say to a man of reason

A doubter who does not decide

أَنتَ اللَّبيبُ إذا لمْ

ترَ الهِلالَ فَسَلِّمْ

You are wise if you do not
