1. كمْ في السَّرائِرِ من كَمينِ لَواعِجٍ

    كُتِمَتْ وَمَسَّةِ وارِدٍ تُبْديها

    How much is concealed in the innermost thoughts -

    things held back at the prompting of passion that shows them forth.

  2. الوارِداتُ لها شُؤُنٌ جَمَّةٌ

    تَلِجُ القُلوبَ بِحُكْمِ ما هو فيها

    Incomings have such manifold affairs;

    they penetrate hearts by virtue of what is in them.

  3. فإذا تَسَلَّقَتِ القُلوبَ تَحَكَّمَتْ

    فيها وأُظْهِرَ بَيِّناً خافيها

    When they have crept into hearts they take command of them

    and make plain what was hidden there.
