1. God—what a welcome is theirs!

    Conjure their image for us.

  2. And you, O driver of the camels,

    depict their beauty for us.

  3. O morning breeze, go forth,

    imitating their coy grace,

  4. proceeding gently by night,

and recount their state to us.

  5. Tell them, when they are alone,

    as you frolic merrily among them;

  6. but utter nothing when they appear

    and display their splendor.

  7. Have they remembered a servant of theirs

who belongs to none but them,

  8. whose heart, with all its resolve, has sought

    their traces among all creation?

  9. His soul, bewildered by love—

    their shadows gave it lodging.

  10. Sweet it was to him when his blood,

unseen, became lawful for them to shed.

  11. May God preserve forever

    their perfection through His holiness.

  12. The soul of every possessor of

    truth adores their qualities.

  13. And the saints have laid down

    their hopes at their door.
