1. جسمي من الكرب المبرَّح قد عفا

    ووقفت من ثقل الذُّنوب على شفا

    My body worn by unremitting grief is healed,

    And I stand at the edge, the burden of sins removed,

  2. والرَّكب قد وصل لحمى وأحبَّتي

    منعوا القبول وقيَّدوني بالجفا

    The caravan has reached my loved ones,

    But they refused acceptance and bound me in rejection.

  3. وبقربهم بعد النوى وببشرهم

    اواه كم وعد الزمان وما وفا

    In their nearness, after intention, and in their cheer,

    Alas! How often time has promised but not fulfilled.

  4. يا من اذوب إذا حدى الحادي بهم

    بحياتكم يا سادتي هجر في كفى

    O you whom I melt for when the guide mentions them,

    By your lives, my masters, abandonment is enough for me.

  5. أشكو لكم هذا الزمان فإنَّهُ

    بشؤونه أضنى قواي وأتلفت

    I complain to you of this time, for in its affairs,

    It has weakened my strength and destroyed me.

  6. وارحتماه لمغرمٍ بجنابكم

    عن كل خلق في البريات اكتفى

    And you have granted it, for a lovesick one, your side,

    Secluded from all people in the wilds, self-sufficient.

  7. كادت تإنُّ لي الحجارة رأفةً

    ويرق لي قلب الحديد تمطُّفا

    The very rocks almost softened toward me in mercy,

    And the iron heart melted, becoming pliable.

  8. وقفول قومٍ في الصباح تركتهم

    وشذا النسيم على الجوانب هفهفا

    The people I left in the morning have journeyed on,

    And the gentle breeze whispered through the hillsides.

  9. طاروا على زهر النياق وأسرعوا

    والرسم قد تركوه قاعا صفصفا

    They raced upon meadow flowers and hurried on,

    Leaving the trail bare, empty and desolate.

  10. رمت اللحوق بهم فأقعدني القوى

    بالرغم عني والدليل تأففا

    I tried to catch up but my strength failed me,

    Despite myself, and the guide grew weary.

  11. فجعلت جنحي الدموع كأنَّني

    أسري بدمعٍ بالتحدر أسرفا

    So I made my tears my wings, as if

    I flowed in tears cascading without restraint.

  12. فأعاقني خوضي بلجته التي

    هدرت وأعيت مقلتي أن تنزفا

    My struggle in its turbulence that has

    Thrashed about and exhausted my eyelids from weeping.

  13. ساروا ومني لم تسر إلا الدُّمو

    عُ لدى جنائبهم قياماً بالوفا

    They traveled on while my tears alone flowed

    Loyally by their encampments, ever faithful.

  14. يا أيها الرَّكبُ المثيرُ بمهجتي

    ناراً أَغث قلباً حزيناً ما صفا

    O caravan that stirs up my affection,

    Kindling a grieving heart that knows no serenity.

  15. عَبَثَت به الأيام فهو مولَّةٌ

    يشكو الفراق أجل يذوب تلهفا

    Wanton time has toyed with it until it is shriveled,

    Lamenting the separation, melting in yearning.

  16. يبكي ويندب كلما البرق التوى

    والليل قام يجرُّ أردان الخفا

    It weeps and laments whenever lightning flickers,

    And night rises, trailing cloaks of darkness.

  17. يا ركبب إن جئت الأحبَّةَ قل لهم

    قولي وزده تخضُّعاً وتلطُّفاً

    O caravan, if you meet my loved ones, convey

    My words, and add to them humility and gentleness.

  18. عبدٌ لكم في برطوس اليوم أي

    نَ فجاجُ طوس وأين أرجاءُ الصَّفا

    A servant of yours is in Parthus today; oh where

    Are the meadows of Tus and the hills of Serenity!

  19. قوموا بجمع شتاته فلكم وكم

    قمتم بذي ضعةِ فصار مشرِّفاً

    Rise to gather his fragments, for you have often

    Raised up the lowly until he became exalted.

  20. يار رب يا غوث الصريخِ ومن إذا

    ناداه ملهوفٌ حماهث وقد كفى

    O Lord, O succor of the anguished cry! For when

    A despairing soul called out, You answered and sufficed.

  21. أدعوك مضطراً بجاه محمَّدٍ

    روح الوجود الهاشمي المصطفى

    I call on You compelled, in the name of Muhammad,

    The essence of life, the Chosen One.

  22. وباله السادات والصحب الأُلى

    والتابعين وكلِّ من لهم اقتفى

    And his family, the masters, and his companions,

    And all who have followed them.

  23. أوصل حبال قطيعتي باللطف واج

    بر كسر قلبي فالعدو قد اشتفى

    Join the cords of my allegiance with kindness, and heal

    The breaking of my heart, for the enemy has gained strength.

  24. واصبب على دائي الدواء تفضلاً

    يا من إلى أيوبَ أحسنَ بالشِّفا

    And pour upon my sickness the remedy of Your grace,

    O You who restored Job to health and wellbeing.
