عظِّمْ أبا البَرَكاتِ واعْرفْ شأنَهُ

واحفظْ له في سرِّ قلبِكَ واجِبَا

Exalt the father of blessings, and know his worth,

And keep for him in your heart’s secret the duty of reverence.

باعدْهُ في حالِ الحَياةِ تأَدُّباً

اللَّيثُ يؤخَذُ عنه خوفاً جانِبَا

Keep him at a distance in life with politeness,

The lion is taken from the side for fear.

حقِّقْ له التَّكريمَ منك جلالَةً

وبطَوْرِ قلبِكَ صِرْ إِليه مُقارِبَا

Realize for him your utmost reverence,

And in the state of your heart, be intimate with him.

واجعلْ لسرِّكَ نَشأَةً من سرِّهِ

لتراهُ في طولِ المَدى لك صاحِبَا

And make your secret’s life spring from his secret,

That you may see him, for the long term, as a companion.

هذا هو الكنزُ المُطَلْسَمُ نُكتَةً

وبه طوَى الباري القَديمَ عَجائِبَا

This is the sealed treasure, an amazing subtlety,

With it, the Ancient rolled up wonders.

تلْقاهُ من حرِّ التَّولُّهِ ساكِتاً

ويكونُ من جمرِ التَّفجُّعِ ذائِبَا

You meet it through burning renunciation, silently,

And it dissolves in the embers of lamentation.

وكَفاهُ في شرعِ الحَقيقةِ أَنَّه

ما صارَ غيرَ اللهِ يوماً طالِبَا

It suffices that in the law of reality,

He never sought other than God.

لك لأنسَ إذْ كتبَ الرَّسولُ بِطاقَةً

أَجرى بها للحاضِرينَ مَراتِبَا

For you is intimacy when the Messenger wrote a note,

With which he conferred ranks on those present.

أَعطاهُ حُكمَ الصِّدقِ بين صُفوفِهِمْ

وأَفادَهُ بالمَكرُماتِ مَواهِبَا

He gave him the judgement of truth among their rows,

And endowed him with gifts of generous favor.

وأَعزَّهُ بمحبَّةٍ مَنْصوصَةٍ

وأَشارَ لي اجْعَلْهُ خَليلاً صاحِبَا

And honored him with specified love,

And signaled to me, “Make him an intimate companion.”

سيبُزُّ في طيِّ الرَّقائِقِ جَوْهراً

ويَفيضُ في حالِ الغُيوبِ كواكِبَا

He will shine, a pearl in the folds of mysteries

And overflow, when hidden, like stars.

رُوحوا بأَمرِ اللهِ أنتم حِزْبُنا

لكمُ أَفضْنا في الغُيوبِ سحائِبَا

Revive, by God’s command—you are our party.

For you we poured out the clouds in the unseen.

واذْكُرْ مقامي يا بنيَّ فإِنَّني

معكَ اتَّحدْتُ لفائِفاً وعَصائِبَا

And remember my station, O my son, for I

Became one with you in subtleties and fibers.
