1. زُرْ حيشَ لا تَلْوِ النِّياقَ لِحاسا

    واسْتَجْلِ من مِضْمارها نبراسَا

    Visit a place where there are no foxes to disturb you,

    And take inspiration from its racecourse,

  2. واقْصُدْ رِحابَ ابن الخِزامِ عَليِّنا

    واملأْ بِمَدحِ جَنابهِ القِرْطاسا

    Aim for the spacious abode of Ibn Al-Khizam,

    And fill your parchment with praise of his excellence,

  3. واجْعَلْ طَريقَ جَنابهِ وسُلوكهُ

    أبَداً بأحكامِ السُّلوكِ أساسا

    Make his path and conduct

    Always the foundation of proper behavior,

  4. وإذا قَرأتَ من الشَّريعةِ نَصَّها

    خُذْ منهُ عن حالِ الرَّسولِ قِياسا

    And when you read the texts of Islamic law,

    Take the example of the Messenger as your measure,

  5. لله رَوْضَتهُ وجَلْجَلَها الثَّرى

    وكأنَّها قد رُصِّعَتْ ألماسا

    God has blessed his garden, and the earth covers his tomb,

    As if studded with diamonds,

  6. يأتي المُحِبُّ لِبابهِ مُتَأدِّباً

    ولَدَيهِ يَطْرَحُ قَلبهُ الوَسْواسا

    The loving visitor comes to his door with reverence,

    Laying down his restless heart before him,

  7. فكأنَّهُ للزَّائِرينَ مُجالِسٌ

    وبِحالهِ قد يُكْنِفُ الجُلاَّسا

    It's as if he is a gathering place for visitors,

    Embracing all who sit with him,

  8. فاحَتْ حَضيرَتهُ النَّدِيَّةُ عَنْبَرا

    نَشَرَتْ بِساطاً في الرَّوابي آسا

    His blessed precinct exudes ambergris,

    Having spread out carpets in the countryside,

  9. من آلِ بيتٍ عن أبي العَبَّاسِ قد

    وَرِثوا القُوى واسْتَبْسَموا العَبَّاسا

    From the House of Abu Al-'Abbas they inherited

    Strength and took on the burden of the 'Abbasids before them

  10. النَّاسُ همْ كمْ مَرَّةٍ همْ جَنْدَلوا

    يومَ الوَغى بالخارِقاتِ أُناسا

    How many times, when sedition erupted,

    Did the people prove themselves courageous fighters?

  11. رَدُّوا إلى الرَّحمنِ هِمَّةَ سِرِّهمْ

    واسْتَحْقَروا في غَيرِهِ الأفلاسا

    They returned the ambition of their secret

    And scorned all else as worthless,

  12. الله طَهَّرَهُمْ وأبْعَدَ عنهُمُ

    في طينِهِم ضمنَ العَما الأرْجاسا

    God purified them and kept them far

    From the defilements that taint ordinary men,

  13. فَلَقوا الدُّجا بِعَزائِمٍ عَلَوِيَّةٍ

    واسْتَحْسَنوا في النَّهْضَةِ الأغْلاسا

    They met hardships with lofty, Alid determination,

    And considered tribulation a fine garment,

  14. كم مَرَّةٍ قَلَبوا النُّحاسَ جَواهراً

    ودَعوا الجَواهِرَ بالصِّدامِ نُحاسا

    How many times did they turn copper to gold

    And leave mere gold battered by the blows?

  15. عَمِّي عَلِيٌّ من صُدورِ رُؤوسِهمْ

    قد قامَ في أهلِ العُلى مُرْتاسا

    My lord 'Ali rose from their breasts

    To stand tall among the sublime,

  16. لله مَظهرُهُ الجَليلُ وطَوْرُهُ

    حالاً إذا بالذِّكرِ يوماً ماسا

    God revealed his majestic self at times

    When he invoked remembrance of Him,

  17. خذ ذَيْلَهُ دِرْعاً لكُلِّ مُلِمَّةٍ

    واتْرُكْ إذا قامَ الوَغى المِهْجاسا

    Take the train of his robe as armor against every calamity,

    And leave behind, when war erupts, the coward's cloak.

  18. سيفُ العِنايةِ من ذُؤابَةِ أحمدٍ

    أعلى لأصْحابِ الخَوارِقِ راسا

    The Sword of Divine Care, from the scabbard of Ahmad,

    Is the highest aspiration of the saintly warriors.

  19. السَّيِّدُ الأُمِّيُّ والأسَدُ الَّذي

    يلْوي العَدُوَّ بِبأسهِ إن جاسا

    The unlettered master, the lion whose might

    Crushes the foe if he dares draw near,

  20. اللهُ سَرْبَلَ قَلْبَهُ بِعنايةٍ

    لَبَسَتْ من الوَهْبِ العَليِّ الباسا

    God clothed his heart with a special grace

    That made him wear the garb of the Most High,

  21. أسَدُ الكِفاحِ أبو المَعارجِ بِأسُهُ

    في الغَيبِ كانَ كَما تَرى إلباسا

    Lion of striving, Abu Al-Ma'arij, his might

    In the unseen was like what you see in the visible realm,

  22. بَحْرٌ طَمى بِرَقائقٍ قُدْسِيَّةٍ

    جَمَعَتْ لأصحابِ الوَحا الأجناسا

    An ocean churning with holy subtleties

    That drew together saints of all religions,

  23. نَظَمَ المَعاني في بَديعِ بَلاغةٍ

    حَمَلَتْ على طَبْعِ العَوامِ جِناسا

    He strung meanings into an eloquent beauty

    That carried the minds of the masses into wordplay.

  24. سَتَرى لِمَرْقَدِهِ قُفولاً تَجْتَلي

    عيساً ويُجْهِدُ بَعضُها الأفْراسا

    You will see riders coming to his tomb

    On their steeds racing with Jesus himself.

  25. هذا العَطاءُ لهُ بِعلمِ الغَيبِ قد

    أوْلاهُ باريهِ فَخَلِّ النَّاسا

    This gift to him, this knowledge of the unseen,

    His Creator granted him, so leave other men be!

  26. سَبَرَ الحَقائِقَ طائراً لِحَضيرةٍ

    لم يُبقِ فيها للرِّجالِ مَساسا

    He probed the truths, a bird in the precinct

    Where no man can reach out anymore,

  27. قَبَسٌ من النُّورِ المُلألإ في طَوًى

    قد قامَ عنْ آبائِهِ مِقْباسا

    A gleam from the Light that fills the Tabernacle,

    Rising above his noble ancestors,

  28. أكرمْ به خَلَفاً عَظيماً قَدْرُهُ

    قد نابَ فينا السَّادَةَ الأكْياسا

    With it honor his mighty grandson,

    Who succeeded the sayyids and the wise.

  29. وألِيَّةٍ لم يُقْصَ عن آرابِهِ

    من رامَ من إحْسانِهِ الأنْفاسا

    An elite whom none can prevent from his needs

    If he hopes for a breath of his kindness,
