يا آخذاً وسط الشآم

بالقرب من ذاك المقام

O you who stand amid al-Sham

Near that revered place

مقام صياد القلو

بِ وسيِّد القوم الكرام

The dwelling of the heart's hunter

The home of the generous folk so dear

لك من وراثتنا يدٌ

تعليك ما بين الأنام

You have from us support

That lifts you among the people here

وهناك يرميك الجوا

حد والحواسد بالكلام

And there the enviers assail

With blame and hostile jeers

حتَّى يكون كلامهم

شيئاً كغلغلة السهام

Until their tongues let loose

Are but as arrows flying fierce

لا تكترث بعجاجهم

فالزور من طبع اليئام

Pay their cackling no heed

Falsehood's the wont of wicked peers

واصبر فتلك بدايةٌ

تنجاب عن حسن الختام

Show patience, for this is but

The start of a triumphant career
