O poet of the Arabs, whose echoing verses have traveled far, deterred by neither land nor sea.
Remember a friend at the shores of Latakia, whom memory revives whenever despair creeps into his heart.
Prince of generosity, magnanimity, and high renown, I cherish your noble qualities more than life's bounties.
Your eloquence outshines the fragrant magic of paradise, and your nature surpasses pure honey and wine.
I have been your companion for twenty years, united by the highest realms of literature, character, and thought.
And we defied the tyrants, our struggle and patience never faltering beneath the weight of their oppression.
And though fate once settled its heavy injustice upon us, it could never tame our unyielding resolve.
And we divided the realm of words between us: yours are the boundless horizons of prose, and mine is poetry.
We are kindred, though not by family or tribe, for true kinship is forged in shared character and noble roots.
We are family despite our distant ancestors, for in this world, a free man's true brother is the free and noble man.
So cherish my loyalty as much as you can, for I swear by your right, it is the greatest wealth when all other wealth is lost.
