Ubaila laughed when she saw me naked,
My shirt and sleeves were torn.
Do not laugh at me, O Ubaila, admire me
When armies turn against me.
And you see my spear firmly lodged in hearts
With traces of blood glistening on its tip.
I charge the scowling horses
While I, cheerful, advance towards them smiling.
I am the lion of the den, and he who has
The heart of a coward is confused and anxious.
I wonder how my opponent can look at my image
On the day of battle, yet he lives on.
