We brought the horses from both sides of the couch
Leveling them, determined for news
Competing with the raven over us
Outcasts like locusts from the dust
We met them one morning disheveled
Horsemen and the tribes from Ghifar
I left the women of Saʿīda bin ʿAmr
Over it, mourning amidst the abode
I left the birds hovering over it
As women hovered over the vat
So I made them, at their best, boon companions
And fed them in time of scarcity of provisions
