Has Layla been consoled after tranquility
A restless imagination stirs the heart with remembrance
It reminds me of youth and Umm Aro's tribe
And the evenings at the shelters and homes
And the live springs of Bani Sa’d bin Sa’d
They endured the downpours and abundant rains
Shall I convey to the chief Sa’d
That his promises were lies and neighbors unjust
He torched my palm trees wrongfully out of ignorance
Bringing me blame and disgrace
You have slipped, forgetting Amro’s executioner
While you, like a fading coal, stir up embers
I provoke the enemies, teasing with my sword
Covering the whites and chestnut horses with blood
At the gate of Al-Qadisiya desperately
Like a lion in a den, refusing to flee
I attack with my sword and defend
If they dislike the truth and rebuke
May God reward you with disloyalty at my side
And after death with hellfire and torment
